10:00 AM: A Visit with Roger Kahn

Legendary writer Roger Kahn visits the Hall of Fame to discuss his newest book, Into My Own, The Remarkable People and Events That Shaped A Life. The book is a touching memoir of a man, whose great love of baseball and literature led him into extraordinary experiences, opportunities and friendships. Following the interview, Kahn will sign copies of Into My Own, as well as a new edition of his classic book Boys of Summer... Bullpen Theater... 1:30 PM: 2006 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony

Open to the public and free of charge, the 2006 Induction Ceremony honors Bruce Sutter and 17 players and executives from the Negro leagues and pre-Negro leagues. The ceremony also recognizes Ford C. Frick Award winner Gene Elston and J.G. Taylor Spink Award winner Tracy Ringolsby. Weather permitting, the ceremony takes place on the grounds of the Clark Sports Center, located on lower Susquehanna Avenue, just one mile south of the Hall of Fame; the walk provides a picturesque view of Cooperstown. Every effort is made to hold the event outdoors, even during inclement weather. Professional interpreters are provided for the hearing impaired. The Ceremony usually lasts two hours. Seating is unlimited and free of charge. A blanket or lawn chair is recommended for comfortable viewing. Since the weather in Cooperstown can be quite warm in July, fans should wear caps and sunscreen. Souvenirs, yearbooks and Museum membership packages are available for purchase.
